2012 July 17th, CARE staged a protest and press conference in reaction to South Korea’s proposal to commence whaling for scientific purposes.
The protest was held in Kwang-Hwa-Moon, in front of the Central Government Complex.
Korea has been branded the leader of the illegal whaling world. The Korean government claims that it’s interest in Whaling is completely scientific, but it’s all about commercial Whaling. Whale hunting must stop and the whales need to be protected. We urge the government to crack down on whale hunting, meat distribution and sales!

Thanks outcries by both the domestic and international community, the Korean government made a statement that it will be cancelling plans to commence whaling for scientific research.
